The Importance of Mental Skills Training
Many of you have heard the quote that sports are 90% mental and know that it’s one’s mindset, or mental skills, that have a significant impact on performance.
The key word here is “skills”!
Much like physical skills, these are mental skills that need to be intentionally practiced and trained in order for you to be prepared for your next clutch moment.
How you think and how you feel can change instantaneously and is the greatest contributor to inconsistent performance. You need to plan and practice how you want to handle and think during different performance scenarios.
It is also important to know that these skills are not a one size fits all; so take time to figure out what techniques best works for you.
