Maintaining Your Parenting Sanity Year-Round

Involve children in discussions about rules and routines. Give specific instructions. Keep it short and straightforward.

Keep activities in small increments that can be managed independently.

Be consistent! Children thrive on consistency.

Assign tasks that your child is capable of doing independently. The goal is to teach your child to be successful at doing things.

Teach time management. Be realistic about time for both you and your child.

And remember… POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT. Praise for the try and the effort. Reward the effort and not just results.

Expect gradual improvement. Be patient and know that it takes time to establish a good and functioning family routine!
