What Are the Misconceptions of Happiness?
As a mental health professional, there are many clients that come into my office every day asking about the concept of happiness and how they can attain more happiness in their life.
However, there’s a lot of misconceptions about happiness.
Many people think that when they attain “X” goal, whatever that goal may be, whether it’s the summer body they want or the home or car they want, that they will be happier.
The reality is although you may have a happiness boost, you may be happier in a short period of time after you attain a goal, the reality is you will eventually regress to your baseline level of happiness.
However, there is research that shows that we can sustainably change our happiness and that falls under what we call “The PERMA Model” which is a well-being model.
