In addition, she has a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from University of Connecticut and a M.Ed. in Human Development Counseling from Vanderbilt University. She has been in the mental health field for almost 20 years working in Hawaii, Connecticut, and Tennessee. In addition, Dr. Griggs co-founded and ran stateside support for a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in Uganda and China. She has co-authored peer-reviewed journal articles, and book chapters as well as taught psychology classes as adjunct faculty at a community college. Dr. Griggs has been a university speaker on the subject of the special needs of adoptive families, and a participant in a policy-reform conference with lawmakers to advocate the needs of children with trauma-related mental health issues. Dr. Griggs is a Nationally Certified Counselor and a member of Mensa.
